Trip Itinerary

As you land in Kathmandu and 'pass the immigration procedures you are greeted by a friendly representative of ours at the very gate. You shall then be transferred to your designated hotel in the Kathmandu valley by means of a private vehicle most likely a jeep. For the rest of the day, you could explore the city to your liking. Being said that, you must compensate for a guide yourself if you choose to have the company of someone familiar with the surroundings while making your way through the city
Begin your journey to Upper Mustang with a scenic coach drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara. After arriving in Pokhara, you'll be transferred to your hotel where you'll meet your tour guide for the Upper Mustang Jeep Drive Tour. Your guide will provide a detailed briefing about the itinerary, road conditions, and local updates in Upper Mustang. They will also share interesting facts about the region, its attractions, and places to visit. Before setting off on your adventure, take some time to cross-check your travel gear and other essentials. Your Upper Mustang Tour begins with a scenic drive from Pokhara after breakfast. The drive will follow a well-maintained road to Beni, a journey of approximately 95 kilometers, and then an additional 20 kilometers to Tatopani. Enjoy an overnight stay in Tatopani, where you can relax and rejuvenate in the natural hot spring pool along the sacred Kali Gandaki River. During the tour, you'll visit several exciting excursion and attraction sites including the Kande View Point, the High Bridge of Kusman, and the Natural Hot Spring of Tatopani. You'll also explore the towns of Kande, Lumle, Kusma, and Beni, including the most rainfall-heavy part of Nepal in Lumle. Get ready for a journey filled with breathtaking natural beauty, rich culture, and memories to last a lifetime
On the 4th day of your Mustang Jeep Drive Tour, you'll journey to the charming town of Kagbeni located along the banks of the Kali Gandaki River. The 60-kilometer drive may take approximately 6-8 hours due to the road conditions and several stops for photographs, tea, lunch, and other breaks. This day is full of exciting excursions and attractions, including the Kaligandaki Galchhi, the world's deepest gorge between the peaks of Annapurna I 8091m and Dhaulagiri 8167m, the Rupse Waterfall, and the delightful apple capital of Marpha and Tukuche. You'll also visit monasteries and forts in Kagbeni and explore the villages of Dana, Ghasa, Leta, Kalopani, and Kobang, including the apple gardens of Tukuche and Marpha villages, before reaching the town of Jomsom.
On the 5th day of the Upper Mustang Drive Tour, you will embark on an adventure along the rugged and challenging roads that run alongside the Kali Gandaki River, reaching Chuksang and crossing the river to Chele. Along the way, you will marvel at the stunning apple orchards of Tange, the towering red rocks that line the hills between Chuksang and Chele, and the river's rocky tunnel. After a satisfying lunch, you will tackle the steep inclines of the Dajori La Pass at 3,735 meters and continue on to Samar at 3,945 meters. You will take a break at Syanboche to visit the fascinating Chungsi Cave before crossing the Yamda La Pass at 3,860 meters. You will then journey through Ghilling village and cross the Nyi La Pass at 4,010 meters before arriving in Ghami. During this part of the tour, you will explore the rich cultural heritage of the Gurung people, the quaint apple gardens of Tangbe, the magnificent twin bridges over the Kali Gandaki River at Chele, the stunning red rock formations, the intricate Chungsi Cave, and the breathtaking view from the Dojari La Pass at 3735 meters.
On the 6th day of the Upper Mustang Jeep Drive Tour, we will make our way to the city of Lo Manthang. This will be the shortest driving day of the tour. We'll take in the sights of the land of Lo and the walled city as much as possible. During the journey, we'll cross the Ghimi River, Charang River, and Dokpolo River. Sights to see: The longest mani wall in Upper Mustang, the Tsarang La Pass at 3870 meters, Sungda Chorten, and the Lo (Day) La Pass at 3950 meters near Lo Manthang.
On day 7th of the Upper Mustang Jeep Drive Tour, we will take a day of rest in the historic walled city of Lo Manthang. During this time, we will take the opportunity to explore the local area, including visiting Namgyal Gompa and Tingkhar Gompa, as well as exploring the ancient four-story royal palace. For those interested, there is also the option to drive to the Koro-La border between Nepal and China, as well as Niphu and the Choser Cave. This is a great opportunity to delve deeper into the rich cultural heritage of the area.
On the 8th day of the Upper Mustang Drive Tour, we will head towards Jomsom, a major town in the desert valley. After having breakfast, we will embark on the journey, passing through Charang, Chami, Ghiling, Syanoche, Samar, Chele, Chhuksang, Tangbe, Kagbeni, and Ekle Bhatti. Jomsom is the largest settlement on the trail of the Annapurna Circuit Trek, Muktinath Trek, Tour, and Upper Mustang Trek Tour. With a small airport located east of the town, Jomsom serves as a transit point for starting and ending treks and tours in Mustang and Muktinath regions. You will spend the night at a comfortable lodge with a variety of food, drinks, and snacks to choose from.
On day 8 of the Upper Mustang Jeep Tour, we'll embark on the longest driving day of the itinerary, covering approximately 7 to 9 hours of driving to reach Pokhara. The journey will take us through 85 km of rough roads and 71 km of blacktopped roads. Although we'll be driving on the same route, the views will be different depending on the angle of the sun and the driving direction. We'll pass through Marpha, Tukuche, Kalopani, Leta, Ghasa, Dana, Tatopani, Galeshower, Beni, Nayapul, Lumle, and finally reach Pokhara for dinner and celebration of the successful completion of the Upper Mustang Drive Tour, along with the driver, guide, and support staff. We'll spend the night at our hotel.
After fueling up with breakfast at our hotel in Pokhara, we embark on a 7-hour journey back to Kathmandu. We'll follow the same highway as we did on day 2 of our Upper Mustang Drive Tour. Our guide will bid us farewell and drop us off at our hotel, marking the end of this exciting driving adventure in Upper Mustang with Trek Around Himalayas. We'll spend the night at the hotel.
Your journey home begins today. Our representatives from Trek Around Himalayas will escort you to the International Airport in accordance with your flight schedule. It's recommended to arrive at the airport three hours before your flight. Trek Around Himalayas will provide a fond farewell, ensuring that your experience with us is remembered forever.
