This route of the trek to the Base camp of Mt. Everest is the most scenic and fruitful trek you can embark upon as it brings the beautiful Gokyo lakes and the east and west of the central region together under one journey. In short, you get to witness the overall majesty of the serene places that the Everest region trek has to offer.

There are a lot of tranquil sceneries waiting to be viewed by you as you undertake this adventurous journey to the base of the world's highest peak. We take you through the trek of the mountainous region slowly and steadily with acclimatization breaks in between. Yet, that doesn't necessarily mean that we are going to hold back on any of the fun stuff that happens during the course of the trip.

During the 'Everest high 3 passes Trek with Everest Base Camp' you get a chance to explore the serenity of three of the highest passes of the country Nepal. Being triumphant overpasses like Kongma La (5535m), Cho La (5368m) and Rengo La (5360m) will undoubtedly fill you with an overwhelming sensation of empowerment.

You cannot embark on the trip on your own as you require proper permits and at least one guide to lead you through the excursion. We will ensure everything is properly maintained right from when you make your reservations. The best time to undertake the Everest Base Camp trek is during Spring (mid of March to May)  and autumn (mid-September to November)

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, our representative will welcome you at the international airport and transfer you to your hotel. After checking in and freshening up, you are free to explore the vibrant streets of Thamel, where you can experience the local culture, browse trekking shops, and enjoy a variety of restaurants and cafés.

Day 2 : Fly to Lukla 2860m) and trek to Phakding 26110m 5 hours

Starting your day with a hearty breakfast at the hotel, you'll journey to Tribhuvan International Airport for an early morning flight to Lukla. Lukla serves as the entry point to the Khumbu and the entire Everest Region. Once you've landed, your trek will begin with a gradual uphill hike along the left bank of the Dudh Koshi River, passing by numerous Mani walls before reaching Ghat. From there, you'll encounter a mix of uphill and downhill trekking as you make your way to Phakding.

Day 3 : Phakding to Namche Bazaar 3440m 5/6 hours

Today you will trek along Dudhkoshi and Bhotekoshi rivers crossing several suspension bridges. If lucky you may get the first glimpse of Mount Everest and Lhotse while trekking up to Namche Bazar. Through the pine forest. You will experience a combination of uphill and downhill walking. You will halt at the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park for registration purposes, following which you will make a steady ascent towards Namche Bazaar, the hub of the Sherpa community. You will spend an additional day in Namche Bazaar, exploring the area and acclimatizing to the high altitude.

Day 4 : Acclimatization day

Take a much-needed break in Namche to acclimate your body to the high altitude. The principle of "hike high, sleep low" will be followed, as you hike to higher elevations and return to lower altitudes for rest. On your acclimatization day, embark on a trip to Namche Bazaar, a very bright beautiful Sherpa village ascending about 300m to the town of Khumjung to have stunning views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Damblam, Kongde, Thamserku and many more. Discover local monasteries and schools along the way.

Day 5 : Namche Bazaar to Tengboche 3870m 5 hours

Following your day at Namche Bazaar, you'll trek down to Dudhkoshi River through the Rhododendron forest on your journey to Tengboche. Along the way, you'll traverse the Mongla Pass, reaching an altitude of 3,975m. The trail offers breathtaking views of stunning mountains and eventually leads you to the region's largest and most magnificent monastery, Tenngboche.

Day 6 : Tengboche to Dingboche 4360m 4 hours

On your sixth day of adventure, you will trek through a stunning alpine forest. Along the way, you will encounter several quaint mountain villages, providing a glimpse into the lives of the local residents. The trail will lead you across the Imja River and Khumbila Khola Valley, with an ascent towards the ridge that will leave you in awe of the breathtaking surroundings. The path to Dingboche offers a breathtaking view of magnificent peaks such as Mt.Nuptse and Mt.Cholaste, among others.

Day 7 : Dingboche to Chhukung 4730m 4 hours

After breakfast, leave Dingboche and follow a gradual trail through the wide Imja Valley toward Chhukung. The route passes through stone-walled fields, alpine meadows, and rugged mountain terrain, offering spectacular views of Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Island Peak, and the surrounding Himalayan giants. As you gain altitude, the landscape becomes increasingly dramatic, with glacial moraines and towering peaks dominating the horizon.

Along the way, pass the small yak grazing settlement of Bibre, where herds of yaks peacefully roam beneath the snow-capped mountains. Continuing on the scenic trail for a few more hours, you will arrive at the picturesque village of Chhukung (4,730m), nestled beneath the imposing south face of Lhotse. Chhukung serves as an important acclimatization stop and gateway to Island Peak, offering some of the finest mountain views in the Everest region.

Day 8 : Acclimatization day, climb Chhukung Ri 5545m 4 hours

Today is dedicated to acclimatization, an important step in preparing your body for the higher elevations ahead. Rather than remaining inactive, you will spend the day exploring the spectacular surroundings of Chhukung while allowing your body to gradually adjust to the altitude.

For those seeking a rewarding challenge, an optional hike to Chhukung Ri (5,546m) offers one of the finest viewpoints in the Everest region. The ascent rewards trekkers with breathtaking panoramic views of Lhotse, Makalu, Ama Dablam, Island Peak, Baruntse, and the vast glaciers of the Khumbu Valley. The hike follows the principle of "climb high, sleep low," helping improve acclimatization while providing an unforgettable mountain experience.

After enjoying the magnificent scenery, return to Chhukung for a relaxing afternoon and overnight stay, fully prepared for the higher-altitude adventures that lie ahead.

Day 9 : Chhukung to Kongma la pass 5535m and trek to Lobuche 4940m 7/7 hours

Today is one of the most challenging and rewarding days of the trek as you cross the magnificent Kongma La Pass (5,535m), the highest of the three passes in the Everest region. Leaving Chhukung early in the morning, you ascend steadily through a rugged alpine landscape of rocky trails, glacial moraines, and pristine mountain lakes. As there are no teahouses or settlements along the route, it is essential to carry sufficient water, snacks, and extra layers for the journey.

The climb to Kongma La is demanding, but the rewards are extraordinary. From the summit of the pass, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu, Ama Dablam, Cholatse, and numerous other Himalayan peaks stretching across the horizon. The dramatic scenery of glaciers, ice-covered valleys, and towering mountains makes this one of the most memorable sections of the entire trek.

After spending time at the pass, begin the steep descent across rocky terrain and glacial moraine toward Lobuche. The trail requires careful footing, especially on loose rocks and uneven sections. As you descend into the Khumbu Valley, spectacular views continue to accompany you until you reach the small settlement of Lobuche, where you can relax and celebrate the successful crossing of Kongma La Pass. Overnight stay at Lobuche.

Day 10 : Lobuche to Gorakshep 5170m, visit Everest Base camp 5364m 7/8 hours.

Finally, the day you have been eagerly waiting for has arrived - the day of your ascent to the Everest Base Camp. Departing early in the morning, you will make your way to Gorakshep. Along the route, you will get a chance to witness the magnificent Khumbu Glacier. The trail toward Gorakshep may become challenging as you get closer, but the breathtaking scenery will keep you motivated. Once you reach Gorakshep, you will continue your journey toward the Everest Base Camp, taking in the awe-inspiring views of the Khumbu Icefall. After a few hours of walking, you will finally reach your destination, the Everest Base Camp. After spending some time taking in the incredible surroundings, you will retrace your steps back to Gorakshep, descending along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. You will spend the night in Gorakshep.

Day 11 : Gorakshep to Dzonglha 4830m, via kalapathar 5555m 7 hours

An early morning hike to Kala Patthar (5,545m) marks one of the highlights of the entire trek. As the first rays of sunlight illuminate the Himalayas, witness a spectacular panorama of Mount Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Pumori, Lingtren, Khumbutse, Changtse, Ama Dablam, and countless surrounding peaks. The breathtaking sunrise over the world's highest mountains creates an unforgettable experience and offers some of the finest views of Everest available anywhere in the region.

After enjoying the magnificent scenery and capturing memorable photographs, descend to Gorak Shep for breakfast before retracing your steps to Lobuche. Following lunch, leave the main Everest Base Camp trail and continue toward the peaceful village of Dzongla. The route traverses a scenic alpine landscape of grassy slopes, glacial valleys, and rugged mountain terrain, offering beautiful views of Cholatse, Taboche, and the surrounding peaks. After several hours of gradual trekking, arrive at the remote settlement of Dzongla, nestled beneath towering Himalayan walls. Overnight stay at Dzongla in preparation for the crossing of Cho La Pass the following day.

Day 12 : Dzonglha to Chola Pass 5368m and trek to Dragnag 4700m 7/8 hours

Today is another challenging and rewarding day as you cross the spectacular Cho La Pass (5,420m). Leaving Dzongla early in the morning, the trail ascends through rocky terrain, glacial sections, and icy slopes before reaching the pass. From the summit, enjoy breathtaking views of snow-covered peaks, glaciers, and colorful prayer flags fluttering in the mountain wind. After taking in the magnificent scenery, descend carefully toward Dragnag, passing alongside the impressive Ngozumpa Glacier, the longest glacier in Nepal. After 6–7 hours of trekking through dramatic Himalayan landscapes, arrive at the small settlement of Dragnag for an overnight stay.

Day 13 : Dragnag to Gokyo 4790m 3 hours

Today you shall ascend to the serene village of Gokyo before settling in for the night. As you walk through the rocky beaten paths you are presented with majestic views of the mountains but the sun-kissed Mt. Everest triumphs it all towering above other peaks. Despite having to climb for a little while, you will have a fairly leveled-out trek for the rest of your day.

Day 14 : Gokyo to Rejo La pass 5360m and trek to Marlung 4210m 7/8 hours

Today is the final and most scenic pass-crossing day as you traverse the magnificent Renjo La Pass (5,360m). Starting early from Gokyo, the trail ascends steadily past the beautiful Dudh Pokhari before reaching the summit of the pass. From the top, enjoy one of the finest panoramas in the Everest region, featuring the turquoise Gokyo Lakes, Ngozumpa Glacier, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and countless snow-capped peaks. After taking in the spectacular views, descend carefully along rocky trails toward the remote Bhote Koshi Valley. Passing the serene lakes of Relama Tsho and Renjo Lake, continue through rugged mountain landscapes before arriving at the peaceful Sherpa village of Marlung, where you will spend the night.

Day 15 : Marlung to Namche Bazaar 3440m 7 hours

As we have our breakfast along with the crisp view in Marulung, we descend down a route used by traditional Tibetan traders. Walking down this historic road we reach Tartanga after crossing the river of Bhote Koshi. The path will then descend further down to the Thame which is host to a 325-year-old Gompa, which adds a cultural flair to your trek. Passing by such splendid places, you reach the blossoming town of Namche Bazaar featuring colorful prayer flags and a glittering marketplace

Day 16 : Namche Bazaar to Lukla 6 hours

The last day of your trek wakes you up at the gateway town of Namche Bazar with some of the crispest views. After breakfast, we will commence our descent toward Lukla. While crossing the beaten path you come across some of the most scenic beauty the area has to offer in the forms of mountains, villages, and lush greenery. You would spend the night in Lukla indulging in a fun time with the crew as well as the locals.

Day 17 : Fly to Kathmandu 45 minutes

Start your day with a filling breakfast, then board an early morning flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, you will be taken to the hotel. Take some time to rest, or explore the bustling streets of Thamel. Walking around Thamel is a great way to experience the sights and sounds of Kathmandu. To celebrate the successful completion of the trek, Trek Around Himalayas will host a farewell dinner in the evening where you can sit and reflect on your journey.

Day 18 : Departure to your destination

Your journey home begins today. Our representatives from Trek Around Himalayas will escort you to the International Airport in accordance with your flight schedule. It's recommended to arrive at the airport three hours before your flight. Trek Around Himalayas will provide a fond farewell, ensuring that your experience with us is remembered forever.
