As the journey begins, you will first take a flight from Kathmandu to Bhadrapur that will take approximately 45 minutes. Along the way, you can enjoy the scenic view of the eastern region of Nepal. This region is full of greenery and diversity. After landing at Bhadrapur airport you will be heading towards Taplejung for an overnight stay. The journey will take approximately 8 hours of drive-in car/jeep. You will stop for lunch and refreshments in a quite famous and beautiful tea garden of Illam.
The following morning you begin with a new exciting part of the trek as you will head towards Mitlung/Sinuwa by crossing Small River over suspension bridges. Further, you will descend down to the Tamor River walking through beautiful villages and terraced fields. Feel the adventure following the narrow trails close to the Tamor River. Then gradual uphill trail through the terraced fields will take you to the village of Hellok where you will rest the night.
On the third day, you will trek from Hellok to Mamasik by ascending an upward slope and interacting with friendly local people. Small tea breaks will help you to restore your energy and interact with local people. You can have a proper glimpse of how people are making up their living. Then walking along the bank of Simbuwa Khola, you will make your way to Mamasik and spend the night.
Today you will trek gradually ascending up following the Sibuwa River. You will have a great opportunity to walk through a natural thick forest full of rhododendron and bamboo. Along with nature, you can get glimpses of wild animals that are quite rare such as Red Panda, Wild Boar, Musk Deer, Himalayan Black Beer, and countless species of birds. After reaching Tortong you will stay the night for the next trek.
The fifth-day trek will take you to Cheram which is approximately a 5-hour walk ahead. You will trek through the trail of the dense forest of rhododendron and bamboo. You will trek along the bank of Simbuwa Khola gradually climbing uphill to reach Cheram. There you will spend the night.
After the early morning breakfast, the trek will begin. You will trek upward for some time to reach the snout of the Yalung Glacier. You can enjoy the heavenly panoramic view of the great Himalayas such as Mt. Everest (8,848 m), Mt. Jannu (7,710 m), and Mt. Kanchenjunga (8,586 m) itself. It is a beautiful walk on a valley trail. You will pass through the small settlement of Lapsang before reaching Ramche. Then you will spend the night there.
On this day of the trek, you will make your way to Yalung Base Camp. You will begin by following a stream and climbing on the moraine top until confronted by Kanchenjunga’s south face. Each and every moment is adventurous and thrilling. You will continue your trek further toward the Oktang Monastery. From here, you will climb further up and reach the Yalung Base Camp. The views from the base camp are extraordinary. You can enjoy a close-up view of Himalayan peaks like Mt. Jannu (7,710 m), and many others. After staying and enjoying the base camp you will head back to Cheram where you will spend the night.
After the early morning breakfast, you will trek to SELE LA. Adventure awaits you as you will cross four passes today beginning with Sinelapche Bhanjyang. Just after that, you will trek through Mirgin La pass moving further towards Sinon La pass which is quite near. From here, you will ascend towards Sele La pass. There are prayer flags strung across one of the steeper sections of the trial which is near the Sele La pass. Then you will finally reach Sele La for the night stay.
After the early morning breakfast, you will head out for the next destination “GHUNSA”. You will walk north with Tangbgharma Danda nearby. Then gradually you will reach a Chorten marked by prayer flags which marks the start of a steep trail. Then you will descend through the birch, pine, and rhododendron forests before reaching Ghunsa. Ghunsa is a peaceful and beautiful village.
Ghunsa is a beautiful settlement of Sherpa people with their beautiful culture and lifestyle, so you will take a day off in Ghunsa and explore the beauty around it. You will get a chance to visit the Monastery, Juniper, and incense factory with antique shops of handmade carpets. Ghunsa is the gateway of the North and the South Base camp of Mt. Kanchenjunga.
After a day off in Ghunsa, you are ready to move towards “AMJILOSA”. It is an approximately 6 hours trek. During your trek, you will pass through several manes and a monastery nearby. You will make your way through juniper forests to reach Phale. From here, it is a steady descent to Gyabla (2,730 m/8,956 ft.). You will cross the bridge over Chhundatangka Khola and reach Gyabla. Gradually you will cross a suspension bridge over Sumbung Khola and reach the destination of the day “Amjilosa” where you will stay the night.
The next day in the morning 7 hours long trek towards “Hellok” will begin. You will walk through a small settlement of Colima while enjoying the freshness of the environment. You will cross a suspension bridge over Ghunsa Khola and reach Sukathum. You will come across many people from many villages and get a chance to interact with them. By the end of the day, you will be staying the night in Chirwa.
Today you will drive through Taplejung Bazaar in a private jeep/car enjoying the Nepali culture and lifestyle. You can see the beautiful cardamom garden with a beautiful rice paddy field on the way. After approximately 6 hours of driving, you will reach Illam Bazaar and stay overnight. After reaching Illam you can take your time and roam around the market. Illam Bazaar is one of the most popular business hubs between India and Nepal. Illam is very famous for its local products like Tea, Cardamom, Ginger, Ghee, chilly, and many other household products.
The following day you will drive from Illam to Bhadrapur by our private jeep and enjoy the pleasant scenes of the tea garden all along the way. The beautiful tea garden is located in a famous tourist destination called Kanyam which is located in the Illam district of Nepal. Riding horses, local tea leaves, picnic spots, and mesmerizing views are the major attraction of this place. You can buy local products and enjoy riding horses at a low prices for fun. After the refreshment, you will drive to Bhadrapur airport and fly back to Kathmandu on the same day. After reaching Kathmandu we will pick you up from the airport and kindly welcome you to your booked hotels and then you can enjoy our hospitality till departure.
